The Sikorsky Strike has finally ended. John Guzzi, a Quinnipiac Student, created a blog, WalkingTheLine capturing the events of the historical strike. At one point he even had to shut off allowing any comments. At least everyone is back to work.
The newest historical event to track is what will happen to our automobile industry. But, then again with the price of gas in Connecticut who will be able to afford to drive. A chain email has been floating around encouraging us not to buy gas from the large oil companies. What can the general consumer do to stop the rising gas prices? Let's face it, these companies are not hurting, as they post record profit highs far beyond the highest profit gains of non-oil companies.
So Lee Raymond, the Exxon/Mobil CEO, is retiring. Each news story breaks his salary and retirement in different ways. But the news station I was listening to said he was walking away with a retirement package of $400 million dollars, plus a few extra items such as use of the company's aircraft and payment made for his country club dues. I'm sure his country club dues are more than our local courses. Hopefully, he will be able to live on that. During his last year of employment they said he was made $190,000 a day ($67 million a year). I guess he deserves it since last year he made a $36 Billion dollar profit for his company.

Just got a postcard in the mail from Exxon/Mobil encouraging me to use my credit card. If I use my credit card three times in the next month, they will credit my account five dollars. Maybe the chain email is having some impact.
