For those of us who do not have a recent (within the last 10 years) accounting or marketing course to meet the degree requirements we need to take the accounting and marketing competency assessments.
The book recommended for the marketing assessment is The Principles of Marketing by Philip Kotler and Gary Armstrong.
The book recommended for the accounting assessment is the OL220 Business Accounting by Porter/Norton/Swain/ Alberecht/Stice/Stice which is only available at the QU bookstore. If I remember correctly it runs about $85 or maybe it was $65.
If you have an interest to buy a used book, loan a book, or sell a book to a classmate feel free to use the comment area for networking such exchanges. If your just interested in reading a good book, check out I Just Finished Reading... I'm currently listening to Blink! as suggested by Mike. When I'm finished with it I'm more than happy to pass it along.
I just ordered the Marketing book, sad to say that I never thought about trying to get it from a predecessor in the OL program. How was the Marketing assessment? Did it follow the book closely? And how did your group narrow it down? Or did you have to read and absorb the entire Marketing text?

I would borrow the Marketing book or rent it for a semester...I can pay in cash or Dunkin Donuts! ;-)
Let me know, I am having my first child and will be taking next term off; I planned on taking the assessments during the "down" time. I would appreciate borrowing that book alot.

I would definitely rent/borrow the Marketing book if there happens to be another one lying around. Maybe Sal and I could time-share it...

I have the book, but I have not taken the test yet. If at all possible would like to take that test this week and wrap up. I already promised my book to someone else, but when he finishes with it, anyone is welcome to borrow.

Please note that the textbook for the accounting refresher has changed. You will now need "Survey of Accounting" by Katherene Terrell and Robert Terrell, ISBN: 0-13-091184-4.
