This is a little piece of 411 that I found out during OL-620's on-site class Saturday. The date of finishing all requirments by February 24th, 2007 pertains to OL students that started in the fall of 2005, but the doubling up pertains to all of the OL graduate students that want to finish early. If you want to graduate early doubling up your electives with a sequential course will allow you to get done 7 weeks early per elective. Take Pam, Mike, and myself as an example we doubled up OL-620 with OL-665, and if we double up one more elective, we will be done February, 24th, 2007 instead of June 16th, 2007. Do not be mislead, it is tough but I believe it is well worth finishing 3 and ½ months early.
There's no question that doubling up get's you to a February 24 finish. Considering that it's my birthday and anniversary, it's a great goal.
HOWEVER....BEWARE!!!
Taking two of these courses at once is MURDER!! If you don't travel for work and you have a job that is flexible where you can either do some school work at work or take a day or two off to catch up, it's not too bad. My job is flexible where I can do school work at work, but I've been traveling so much lately that it's been really tough to keep up.
I would recommend the blogging course if you have the opportunity. I considered my self fairly savvy when it came to the internet, but this has really been an experience. I can see how someone could get hooked on this stuff. There's so much information out there it's incredible.
If you're up for a challenge, go the doubling up route and you'll be done in no time. But, if you're just getting one course done with no time to spare be careful!!

Doubling up with these courses sounds like suicide to me! I am trying to work my way through OL 605...Something needs to be done here! I could not imagine two of these courses at the same time. I'd rather put my hand through a cheese grater than to write another one of these briefs!

Yeah, the briefs get to you after awhile. Right now I feel the same way about scorecards and measurements.

I've been wondering about the doubling-up route since I started in January. Thanks for the info - as much as I want to finish 3 months early, I'll consider the craziness of work into my decision.

There is something about the challenge in multi-tasking work, family, course workload and social functions. Did I say social, what am I saying-there is no such thing when doubling up...its more like suicidal....but I love it! Do you think I should take a psych elective next?

You guys are scaring me!! I am considering doubling up in the semesters to come but by the sounds of it...not so good! I know it will all pay off in the end being done sooner rather than later.

Melanie,
Don't be scared from doing what you want and doubling up courses. The way I see it is if you manage one course per 7 weeks then just double your committment and time for the second course. As with everything in life, the more we take on there is a compromise of something else. Good Luck!

The nice thing about doubling up this semester was the blogging only had 1 Saturday Class and a weekly office hour on Monday night. If I double up this semester I will not look forward to three long Saturdays, especially with the nicer weather! Not to mention the higher babysitting bill.
